When you like games, you like games. Period.

It does not so much matter what these games are like. Video games, sports, tick-tack-toe, UNO, Monopoly, slots—you name it, most of us love them!

Perhaps the biggest overlap, however, could be between video games and slots. There is a good chance that you will love both, and if you don’t, have you ever given video games a fair shot?

While video games cannot generally win you money (eSports, anyone?), they can still offer you plenty of otherwise rewarding moments!

I have been into video games for the vast majority of my 34-year old life. Currently, I am passing these skills onto my son and hopefully my daughter once she’s old enough.

In this article, I will go over a handful of video game IP’s that you may not know have been made into video game slots!

Street Fighter II – Video Game Slot by NetEnt

Depending on your age and history with video games, you may or may not remember Street Fighter II. This fighting game was originally released in 1991 and actually managed to become the best-selling SNES game ever. After its success, Capcom has made countless new iterations of the game, but none have become as wildly popular as the timeless retro classic.

NetEnt’s Street Fighter II: The World Warrior slot was released in 2020, and does a great job in representing the franchise. Everything you could ever want—from the car smash bonus game to an actual character select screen—has made the cut.

My only gripe with this love letter of a slot, though, is that things can quickly become so hectic that it becomes tough to follow the actual proceedings! The characters are essentially fighting with the reels here, which, although comical, kind of distracts you from the whole winning-money aspect…

If you love Street Fighter, I really recommend you give this slot a try, you find all the casinos with NetEnt slots here.

Hitman – Video Game Slot by Microgaming

There was a time in history when Microgaming was mostly known for all of its licensed online casino slots. Whether it was Playboy, Jurassic Park, Game of Thrones, or even a video game-like Hitman, these guys really wanted to make a slot about it. And for good reason!

The Hitman franchise—starring the legendary Agent 47—first came to be in 2000, when the first Hitman video game was released on Microsoft Windows. The second instalment, however, already made its way to actual game consoles like Playstation 2, Xbox, and GameCube, too.

In Hitman games, you’re usually tasked with assassinating evil kingpins. The same can be said of the Hitman video game slot as well. In one of the two bonus games, you actually get to choose your target and even the way of how you want to do the deed. It is all pretty chilling stuff!

While the Hitman video game slot was released already in 2007 (perhaps to coincide with the movie), it is still a fun game to play even to this day! You can find all casinos with Microgaming slots here.

Tomb Raider – Video Game Slot by Microgaming

Who doesn’t know Tomb Raider, right? It was in 1996 when Lara Croft first burst onto the scene with a video game released on PC, Playstation and Sega Saturn alike. Lara back then was pretty much a well-endowed female version of the more popular Indiana Jones character.

Tomb Raider has actually spawned two video game slots—one released in 2004 and the other in 2008. Pictured above you can see the latter: the Tomb Raider: Secret of the Sword version.

The first Tomb Raider game is not much to look at anymore, but Secret of the Sword has managed to retain its allure pretty nicely. This is, of course, largely thanks to the rolling reels and growing multipliers in the bonus game!

Resident Evil 6 – Video Game Slot by Skywind Group

Here is another series that started its journey in 1996. The inaugural Resident Evil game was released on Sega Saturn and Playstation, and instantly became the king of the so-called survival horror genre. Granted, a lot of the horror came from the horrific controllers, but seeing those demonic dogs jump out of the window definitely didn’t hurt either!

The Resident Evil 6 slot was released in 2019 and revolves around the themes of, well, the sixth canonised version of the game.

As a modern slot, Resident Evil 6 offers as many as four different bonus games with random stacked wilds, sticky wilds, pick-and-click bonuses, and more. The way it all works is first you need to land the iconic green healing herb on the third reel. This powers up the feel for the next 3 spins and allows you to access bonuses by landing one of the characters there as well. What an innovative way of going about these things, don’t you think?!

Resident Evil 6 is another video game inspired slot that is definitely worth a gander!

Sadly, I do not think that I left too many slots out of this list.

There simply are not that many video game inspired slots out there, which is an absolute shame. Just think of all the possibilities…

Where is my Sonic the Hedgehog slot? What about Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Super Mario, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Persona 5, Fallout, and Elder Scrolls?

Then again, maybe at least the video games meant for the whole family would be better left untouched by the casino industry…
