Evolution Gaming Launches New Live Speed Blackjack and Much More

Worldwide market-leading live casino developer Evolution Gaming has had a busy few months.

The Lightning Roulette and Monopoly LIVE creators won an innovation award in December and have followed that up with a whole host of new announcements as we move into 2020.

As well as launching their new speed blackjack live casino game, the Estonian-founded company also tied up two other deals.

The first will see them add to their growing number of customers in the legal US markets, as the ink is now drying on the contract with New Jersey’s Parx Casino.

The second is a European-focused deal with the highly-rated Betsson, flagship casino of the Betsson Group. This unique promotional campaign will offer a massive €1 million (~$1.15 million) prize.

Speed Blackjack

Although Evolution already has dozens of blackjack variants available, players still want more. One of the first variants of roulette to be developed at live casinos was speed roulette, and this new blackjack game follows the same formula.

All players can see their options on each turn instantly, and the dealer can then go to whoever was fastest first. This creates a smooth experience that can go fairly quickly if everyone at the table is a fast player.

“Compared to our standard Live Blackjack game, Speed Blackjack is about 30–40% faster,” said Todd Haushalter, Evolution’s Chief Product Officee in a company press release.

For the last hundred years or so, Blackjack players have made decisions from the dealer’s left to right, in order, and everyone has had to wait for the deciding player because that is how it’s always been done in casinos. We asked ourselves, ‘Why should players have to wait?’”

Innovation in All Things

That willingness to think differently about the rules of the casino game has won Evolution many awards over the years.

They added another one to the list in December 2019 when they picked up the Gaming Innovation Award at the Sports Betting Community awards in a glitzy ceremony in London, UK.

The company is also looking to prove its reputation with a second deal of this January 2020 – in a live casino promotion unlike anything we’ve seen before.

In what is (as far as we know) the biggest jackpot prize ever offered in the live casino world, Evo partnered with Swedish giant Bettson and casino insurance underwriter RISQ to offer a cool €1 million roulette jackpot.

That tasty jackpot will go to the first player to hit twelve consecutive straight-up bet wins in a single session on one of Evolution’s roulette wheels at Betsson casino.

“Our winning streaks live roulette promotion is the first of its kind, with a life-changing jackpot up for grabs,” said Evolution spokesman Spyros Kanakis.

RISQ backs casinos for jackpots up to $125 million, allowing large payouts for ridiculously unlikely combinations or scenarios–and if this promotion is successful in attracting players, we might just see more like it in the future.

Future Markets

Another deal we might see happen again soon is one that moves Evolution further into the newly legal US markets.

After signing up with Penn National in November 2019, they’ve now announced they’ll be powering Parx Casinos’ New Jersey live online casino that will launch sometime this year.

This can only be a smart move from the global operator, as both the New Jersey and Pennsylvanian online markets showed massive (and record-breaking) growth throughout most of last year.

As for exactly how future developments from Evolution might play out, a brief look at their job vacancies page shows they’re looking for Japanese and Korean live hosts.

This suggests they may be looking to tap into the global Asian market, which we haven’t seen much of from them before (outside of Chinese games).

Whatever the future holds for Evolution, we’ll be keeping you updated on any new moves from them—and other major iGaming players—throughout 2020.
