NetEnt is one of the most successful game providers of all time. This developer has produced many hit slots and invented notable features (e.g., avalanche pays).

NetEnt History

NetEnt’s roots lie with a Swedish company called AB Restaurang Rouletter. Rolf Lundstrom and Bill Lindwall founded Restaurag Rouletter in 1963.

They formed a partnership with Per Hamberg and Lars Kling in 1968. The merged company would open the Cherry land-based casino in 1972.

Bill Lindwall’s son, Pontus Lindwall, launched Net Entertainment in 1996 via capital from Cherry casino. NetEnt opened at a time when online gaming was still in its early stages.

NetEnt’s first major milestone came when it released CasinoModule to operators in 2002. Just a couple of years later, it had attracted dozens of casino clients with its module product.

In 2009, this developer went public and became listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange (now NASDAQ Stockholm).

In 2010, NetEnt released what would become one of the greatest online slots of all time in Gonzo’s Quest. It also dropped Dead or Alive that same year.

In 2014, Net Entertainment became a pioneer in HTML5-based gaming. HTML5 is now the standard programming language for mobile games.
